Enrollment Questions

All children ages 3-5 living in Yellowstone and Carbon Counties are eligible for enrollment at Explorers Academy. Please be aware priority is given to children who meet the income guidelines with the goal that the children with the highest need are served first. We determine need based on income and benefits information such as tax returns, W2’s, check stubs, child support statements, school financial aid statements, TANF, SSI, SSDI, and WIC statements, tribal income, and other sources of income. We also consider a child’s family network, immigration status, housing situation, and any special or unique needs.

A small percentage of children enrolled in Explorers Academy’s services are over-income, but 90% of Explorers Academy’s admitted students must be income eligible. We have begun to offer paid tuition slots for families who earn more. If you have questions about paid tuition slots, please give us a call at (406) 245-7233 ext. 201.

Yes! All residents of Yellowstone and Carbon Counties can apply for Explorers Academy

We encourage all parents to be involved with their child’s education and experience at Explorers Academy. After enrollment is complete, each family will be assigned a family advocate who will complete at least two home visits throughout the school year. We also have at least two parent-teacher conferences each year. Beyond these meetings, we encourage parents to volunteer in their child’s classroom, attend field trips, take part in meal time, and attend fun family activities in the evenings or on the weekends.

At this time we do not provide transportation, but we will help you find transportation options so your child can attend school.

As of Program Year 2019-2020, classroom hours will vary based on site.

Full day classrooms are six (6) hours per day, five (5) days per week. Morning and afternoon half-day classrooms are four (4) hours per day, four days per week.
